3) Peking

Nach 8 1/2 Std sind wir punkt 03:00 (09:00 Ortszeit) in Peking gelandet. Etwas verspätet, da der Abflug wegen heftiger Gewitter in Frankfurt verzögert wurde. Wir sassen das erste mal auf einem Flug in Sitzreihe 90, im hintersten Abteil des A380. Die Einreise in Peking verlief ohne Probleme und wir konnten nach knapp einer Stunde schon unser Taxi besteigen, welches uns in unser Hotel brachte. Da der Taxichauffeur nur wenige Brocken englisch verstand, drückten wir ihm eine chinesische Karte in die Hand, worauf die Stelle des Hotels markiert war - na ja, die letzten 250 m haben wir dann noch zu Fuss zurückgelegt.

Im Hotel mussten wir feststellen, dass die Internetverbindung unseren Blog nicht anzeigt (nicht downloaden kann). So versuchen wir nun, via I-Pad einige Zeilen zu schreiben und mit einigen ersten Fotos zu illustrieren - für uns im Moment ein absoluter Blindflug, da wir den Blog nicht betrachten können...


Well, here we are in Peking, having had two good flights (the catering on the flight to Frankfurt left a lot to be desired - juice and a biscuit!) The A380 was great though, an empty seat in between and plenty of space. It's hot and humid here, the hotel is in the old town, but is quiet and clean and has got working a/c. The rest of the group arrived, all a bit younger and fitter looking, we'll find out more later.


Well, I was right, Erwin's the most senior, but as far as cycling goes, we'll probably fit in the middle. We all walked up to the old drum and bell towers this afternoon and then, finally all sat down for an absolutely delicious meal in a rooftop restaurant. Now we can't keep our eyes open any longer, so I'll say wan an - or goodnight.
